Welcome to the virtual world of The Chocolate Chef!

Established in 2006, The Chocolate Chef was set up by Cathie and Matt Battersby in order to provide delicious handmade chocolates at a reasonable price. Matt is a lifelong chocoholic and Cathie has always had a passion for cooking so combining the two has been a dream come true!

So what makes us special? A long established chocolatier in France once said that you can get good value chocolate or you can get good chocolate. We aim to provide good quality chocolate at a  reasonable price. By making all our products from home, and selling directly we are able to keep our overheads down, savings which are reflected in our price.

Although chocolate generally has a long best before date, the flavour does start to diminish after approximately three months. We pride ourselves on only making our products when they are needed so that your chocolates reach you when they are tasting their best. This means we don’t always have some products available at short notice, but our customers tell us a few days wait is worth it.

During 2011 rising costs, particularly transport and cocoa have made us re-consider our business model somewhat and we now focus much more on our very popular chocolate parties. We offer these in your own home for kids or adults for any occasion, and also to corporate events. Please see our parties page for more details. We are only booking till the end of November 2011 at present. Matt has a new day job in Paris and we will be re-locating there at the end of the year. We hope to offer chocolate parties to the local and ex-pat community from early next year…. Come back to the site for updates.

We are still happy to take on personal orders but our webshop has now closed. We will only take on orders that are of a reasonable size as much to our regret single orders were often loss making and therefore no longer viable. Please call us on 01206 210130 to discuss your requirements.
